Dental Tips
- You should brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and floss at least once a day.
- Use a soft bristled toothbrush with a size and shape that allows you to reach all tooth surfaces.
- When brushing move your toothbrush in short, gentle, circular strokes.
- Brush the outer, inner and chewing tooth surfaces.
- Don't forget to brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.
- When flossing, slide the floss between teeth using a gentle, sawing motion.
- Hold the floss tightly against the tooth and move the floss in up and down rubbing motions.
- Don't forget to floss the backside of your last tooth.
- Use a mouthwash that contains fluoride; it strengthens the teeth and can help prevent decay at all ages.
- Replace your toothbrush every three to four months or sooner if the bristles become worn or frayed.
- If you wear removable appliances, clean them after eating and rinse before replacing them in your mouth.
